Engaged? Get your skin ready to walk down the aisle!

Congratulations! You are recently engaged and starting to plan for one of the most exciting days of your life. There are so many things that you will need to think about though, starting with your wedding dress, the location, who you will invite. There are 56,124 wedding businesses operating in Australia so you will easily be able to find what you need, even if you live elsewhere. So you don’t have to worry about that. Your wedding day, and the celebrations leading up to it, are such an exciting time and a time when all eyes are on YOU! Whether you are the bride or groom we can help get your skin glowing and perfect for your big day. You want to look amazing while you’re walking down the aisle in your WINNIE COUTURE dress or your custom made suit.

Skincare isn’t an overnight miracle – it takes time to see those amazing results. There are other steps you can take to prepare yourself for the big day too. For example, you might want to do some research into a Cosmetic dentist in Charlotte or wherever you might live who can provide a teeth whitening treatment. After all, you want to look back on your wedding photos and feel pride in your dazzling smile. But what about skincare? See below for a recommended timeline to get your skin ready for that walk down the aisle.

One year prior

Make an appointment to discuss your skincare and plan for the months leading up to the wedding. This is a great opportunity to talk about your concerns, review your current skincare regimen and talk about your goals for moving forward. Depending on your skin need, we will recommend a treatment plan with products to help achieve your goals.

Nine months until wedding day

By this time, we should start seeing results from your new skincare regimen. The skin may be looking fresher, smoother and brighter. This is a great opportunity and perfect time to start discussing any cosmetic treatments that you may want to utilize before the big day. Chemical peels can be administered every 4-6 weeks to keep the skin glowy and smooth. You may want to consider neurotoxin injections such as BOTOX® or Dysport® to relax any wrinkles that developed during wedding planning! Dermal fillers can be used to further enhance your natural beauty, and many grooms may consider this option to create a subtle yet masculine profile and jawline.

Cosmetic treatments differ in the time it takes to see results and how long they last, so this is a great time to start introducing these in your wedding prep!

Four to Six months to go

Continue with your great skincare regimen and don’t forget the SPF! No one wants unsightly tan lines or sun spots on their big day. If you have any new concerns, now is the time to bring them up to your dermatology provider because there is still time to treat. Continue with chemical peels to get rid of dead, dull skin and keep everything perfectly smooth and bright. You may even want to consider trying out private label skin care products to see what a difference it could make to your skin.

One month until your walk down the aisle

Schedule a refresh of your neurotoxin to make sure you’re not ‘ugly crying’ or having unwanted wrinkles in your photographs! Natural results can be achieved for brides and grooms alike, leaving you looking awake and youthful on your big day. You may want to have one last chemical peel to keep things bright, and keep your topical treatment regimen steady. Don’t make any major changes at this point. You’ve put the work in and your skin should be looking tip top – now is definitely not the time to try something new, in case it is irritating or reacts with your skin.

Leading up to the big day

The final days and weeks leading up to the wedding can be stressful and cause things like rashes and acne breakouts. If this happens to you, don’t fret! We can help and there are quick and easy in-office treatments available to fix your skin emergency.

Understand the Basics of Cosmetic Dermatology

The world of cosmetic dermatology is growing rapidly and seems to be ever changing. No matter your skin concern there now seem to be a million and one ways to “fix” it. So, how do you make sense of what’s out there? How do you figure out what you need and what is right for you?

Let’s break down some of the basics of cosmetic dermatology:

Skin Care Routine

Your daily skincare routine is truly the backbone of your skin health and appearance. At a minimum, a gentle cleanser, daily SPF, antioxidant product, and exfoliating product should be used regularly. Once you’ve established your core routine you can then start adding in more specific or targeted products such as eye creams, lip products, and others to enhance your results. Skincare doesn’t need to break the bank, either! You may decide to splurge on a high concentration antioxidant serum and then use your drugstore products for everything else, and there is nothing wrong with that! Our philosophy is to use products that work for you and fit into your routine, your budget, and your life.

Neurotoxin

Products like BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® help relax the muscles whose movement contributes to permanent lines on the face. When used together with your robust skincare routine, a neurotoxin helps maintain a youthful appearance in a natural way. Most patients find results last anywhere between two and four months, and there is no downtime after your injections. A neurotoxin isn’t just for lines on the forehead or between the brows. These products, when injected by a trained medical professional, can be used to subtly enhance the size and shape of the lips, tighten along the jawline, reduce downturn of the lips, soften the bumpy appearance of the chin and help relax tight bands in the neck.

Fillers

Fillers are part of your overall skin care arsenal to help contour, volumize and rejuvenate the face, and other areas including the backs of the hands. Using these hyaluronic acid based products in a skilled and artful way can help you achieve a natural and more youthful appearance without the need for surgical intervention. When fillers were first introduced there were only very few options available and techniques were not refined. Today, we have the luxury of multiple filler products available and expertise from decades of injecting. We know just the right product and technique that will help achieve a patient’s desired results.

Laser

At Zel Skin & Laser we have several different lasers available to help you achieve your goals. From vascular laser to treat redness and blood vessels to a full resurfacing CO2 laser – you may want to incorporate laser to help even the skin tone.
