Types of Injectable Wrinkle Treatments
- Botox® can be used on crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes, horizontal forehead lines, vertical creases between the eyes, and to help lift the corners of the mouth. Results are visible in 7 to 10 days. The effects of Botox® treatment gradually subside, so retreatment every 3 to 6 months often yields the best results.
- Dysport® helps reduce moderate to severe furrows between the eyes. Five points along and between the eyebrows are treated to prevent the muscle contractions that cause frown lines, while leaving untreated facial muscles to express feelings naturally. Most patients see improvement within 2 to 3 days. The effects last up to 4 months.
- Xeomin® is the latest available treatment. It is typically used to treat horizontal forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet, and to lift brows up to 3 millimeters. Results may be visible as early as 3 to 5 days. Often patients have maintenance treatments every three months, as Xeomin® has been shown to be more effective at keeping muscles relaxed when used over time.
What to Expect During Treatment
Your initial consultation will be with a medically trained provider who will address your unique concerns and suggest the best way to achieve your goals. Each treatment is generally injected without anesthesia, though we can provide topical anesthetic if necessary. Treatments are usually completed in under 45 minutes. You can ask any specific questions or concerns you may have about the treatment. You can discuss expectations for the initial treatment as well as follow-up sessions.
During the treatment itself, you may feel a slight prickling sensation. You may experience a bit of redness at the injection site that will wear off in no longer than a few hours. Most patients immediately return to work or their normal daily activities. In rare cases, if you experience any negative side effects, our skin care clinics and board-certified dermatologists are standing by to manage this risk. While results will vary, most everybody will see some substantive benefit, and some people will experience dramatic and sustained improvement.
