How Does a Xeomin® Treatment Work?
Like Botox, a Xeomin® treatment is a neurotoxin. The treatment works by blocking the release of chemicals that cause muscle contractions, or frown lines. By partially freezing these muscles, fine lines and wrinkles are softened, leaving a smoother, clearer complexion.

Xeomin® treatment was designed to address frown lines between the eyebrows, but it has been approved for a range of treatment areas. The most typical treatment areas include:
- Horizontal forehead lines, or the lines and wrinkles that form on your forehead by raising your eyebrows
- Vertical frown lines, which are the vertical or diagonal lines that form between the eyebrows from frowning or furrowing the brows
- Crow’s feet, which are notoriously difficult to treat. Squinting your eyes in the sun or when smiling produces small lines around the outside edges or alongside the eyes, which are known colloquially as crow’s feet.
- Brow lift, which is great for heavy-set or drooping brows. Using Xeomin® on the outer brows can result in a small (2-3 millimeter) brow lift.
What to Expect from a Xeomin® Treatment
During your initial consultation, we’ll address your concerns and discuss how Xeomin® or other treatments we offer will help to achieve your goals. Your medically trained provider will make a recommendation regarding how many Xeomin® units should be used. Each person is unique and has a different need for the location and amounts of injections, so we take the time to meet and discuss all options with every patient.
You may experience a slight redness in the injection sites after treatments. Patients may start to see results in as early as 3-5 days and have retreatments every three months. With time and uninterrupted use, Xeomin® has been shown to be very effective over time at keeping the muscles relaxed, so there may be an added benefit of continuing therapy.
